A new artist from south Jersey is taking over the east coast in a major way! After serving his time during a grueling 10-year bid in prison, Zu Life, from Burlington, NJ, has started his own non-profit organization dedicated to helping the youth in his community with after school programs that focus on academics and sports. Zu has also released his own documentary, and performed alongside and toured with notable rappers like Freeway and Gillie Da Kid, while working on his own music, and keeping young men like himself out of trouble.

Last week, Zu Life was invited to Kay Slay‘s Drama Hour on Shade 45, where he talked about what it was like for him to go from a life behind bars, to now being one of the most recognized artists in south Jersey. Listening to Kay Slay was a motivating force for Zu and other inmates while he was locked away upstate, and now that he’s out, he says this moment is a “dream come true.”
