It has been recently confirmed that 26 year old Steven Rodriguez more formally known as A$AP Yams was found dead early Sunday morning. Details about Yams’ unexpected death have not yet been released.  The founder of A$AP Mob had a history with drugs but it has not been said whether his death was related to an overdose.

The A$AP family speaks highly of not only their founder but their best friend.  Many of the A$AP Mob members have taken their grievances to social media.  A$AP Ferg tweeted the following along with a picture of himself and Yams on stage together: “You were the brilliant mind ,you put us on Game , you changed our lives. You changed my life , you changed the world. R.i.P YAMZ there can never be another one after you . #asapworldwide #asapferg #yamborgini #yamz” A$AP Rocky also posted a photo to Instagram with the caption: “R.I.P. Yams, I LOVE YOU BROTHER”

The Cutthroat Boys whom Yams also worked with is deeply sadden by his passing as well as the rest of the hip hop community.  Cutthroat Boys member Joey Fatts said “Yams was the savior of hip hop.” Other members Vince Staples and Aston Matthews said Yams was the only one to believe in their vision. Other rappers and artists like Drake, Wiz Khalifa, and Azealia Banks have also expressed their sadness on social media.

Our hearts go out to A$AP Yams’ family and friends. He truly changed the lives of the musicians he worked with and left a big footprint on the hip hop community. Rest in peace Yams.
