2013 MTV Video Music Awards - Arrivals

Travi$ Scott sat down with MTV News this week, where he clarified a few things for his fans, as well as revealed a few interesting details about what we can expect from him on his upcoming projects and collaborations.

Speaking on his quip about J. Cole and Chance the Rapper at a recent show on his Rodeo Tour, Scott says his comments weren’t intended to be disrespectful, but they just made sense coming from someone whose music isn’t exactly meant for “sing-alongs”.

“It’s not that I dislike J. Cole or Chance – I know both of them. I wasn’t speaking about it in a negative way,” Scott tells MTV News. “It’s just like, I go to those type of shows and sh-t and it’s not bad, it’s good for them. But at a Travi$ Scott show—it’s none of that. We don’t sit there. We don’t preach to our kids. It’s all about the raging and the vibe and expression.”

Speaking on his upcoming album, Travi$ talked about why Kid Cudi, his friend and mentor, is the determining factor for the release of this next project. “He’s part of my story,” he says. “It’s only right we do a song together. There’d be no Travi$ Scott if not for him.” Scott went on to say that Cudi surprised him at the studio while he was putting his album together, and shared new music with him, along with some words of wisdom for the young rapper as he begins to navigate the music industry on his own. Fans will be excited to know that while Kid Cudi is indeed preparing his own project after some time away, Travi$ is working on everything he can to make their collaboration come to life.

In the interview, Travi$ Scott also peaks on his how his verse for Drake‘s “Company” came out at the last minute, and his relationship and respect for Kanye West and Diddy respectively, while also voicing his thoughts on when he thinks veteran rappers should hang it up. His most exciting reveal? A Travi$ Scott/Young Thug collab album is in the works!
