J-Dilla

James Dewitt Yancey, or more popularly known as J Dilla would have celebrated his forty-first birthday earlier this month.  The late producer and rapper passed away in 2006 from a blood disease. Dilla earned his fame in the middle of the 1990s rising up from the underground hip hop scene in Detroit. Before his early death he worked with artists like The Roots, Busta Rhymes, Erykah Badu, and A Tribe Called Quest, plus others.

In honor of J Dilla’s recent birthday the clothing brand, Stussy and Pay Jay Productions have teamed up this year and designed a figurine in his honor. According to BallerStatus.com the figurine will release for a limited time this Friday, February 13th. The J Dilla inspired model will stand at 7.5 inches tall equipped with a removable hat, donut chain, and sampler. Stussy created an original “J Dilla x Stussy” T-shirt that is available in either black or white. The J Dilla inspired collectors item can be found at Stussy stores or online starting on Friday but only 5,000 units are going to be released.
