Questlove, co-founder of The Roots, musical director for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, a NYTimes bestselling author and food enthusiast has released a new kind of food book; somethingtofoodabout: Exploring Creativity with Innovative Chefs with Ben Greenman. The book, about $30.00 in hardcover, is all about art, craft, creativity and food, and features fascinating conversations with ten inspiring chefs on what makes their creative clocks tick.

Quest is no stranger to the fork! A celebrity ambassador for Food Bank for New York City, he’s on the City Harvest Food Council, and is a board member for Edible Schoolyard, and the Museum of Food and Drink (MOFAD).

somethingtofoodabout takes readers around the country: not only to New York City, where Questlove is currently based, but to up-and-coming culinary hot-spots like Austin and Philadelphia (the city of his birth). Questlove also goes west to Los Angeles, north to Portland, OR, and south to New Orleans, speaking with chefs about their personal histories, their creative processes, and their insights into innovation in food.

Punctuated by still life photography inspired by the masters by renowned photographer Kyoko Hamada, and with a foreword by Anthony Bourdain, somethingtofoodabout introduces us to the hidden things that influence some of America‘s best chefs, and sparks our own curiosities about food as a cultural experience.

“The term foodie is inadequate to describe Questlove’s relationship with the international subculture of chefs. He would be better described as a fully made member of the chef media. This book offers some evidence of his reach, the depth of his interest – and his extraordinary good taste.”
