Last year, it was announced that a biopic was in the works for a film about the life of legendary comedian, Richard Pryor, directed by Lee Daniels. There was ton of speculation about who would play the late comedian, with rumors circulating that everyone from Nick Cannon, to Mike Epps, to Marlon Wayans had been selected to play the role. Marlon Wayans had been very vocal on social media and interviews about his desire to be cast as the lead, although Mike Epps was officially selected. According to Richard Pryor‘s ex-wife, Jennifer Pryor, no other comedian could be as “raw” as her husband was other than Mike Epps. Luckily, we have proof of her assessment of Marlon Wayans, as his audition tape for the role mysteriously leaked this week.

“I think Mike has a rawness about him that is very similar to Richard’s rawness. You know what I mean? Nick is a delightful person; I think he’s a very nice guy and I think the same of Marlon, but I don’t feel their rawness. That’s not an insult, it’s just a fact. Some people look kind of shattered when they walk into a room, and Mike’s got that vulnerability, and you can identify that. Marlon doesn’t have that; nor does Nick.”

Do you think she made the right decision?
