Mack Wilds has made a name for himself with hits such as “Own It,” and “Henny” off his Grammy nominated album New York: A Love Story.

Playing around in the studio, his producer Salaam Remi asked Mack to sing Michael Jackson’s hit single off his album Dangerous, over the “Henny” beat.

“Me and Salaam Remi were just playing around in the studio for a few days,” Wilds told Yahoo Music. “I was writing lyrics for my song ‘Henry’ and Salaam said, ‘I want you too sing Michael Jackson’s ‘Remember the Time’ over it.’ I went in there and sang it. A few weeks later, he’s talking about, ‘Yo, this is going to go on the album.’ I was like, ‘Hold on! What are you talking about? We were just joking around.’ But it wasn’t a joke.”

What resulted was a nice, smooth, soulful cover of the Jackson’s 1992 hit single. One that can introduce the song and its origins to a new audience.

The modified “Henny” beat compliments the song really well. And the video is simple yet, brings a nostalgic feel of that late 90′s early 2000′s contemporary r&b vibe that matches perfectly with the song.
