kelly-osborne Who knew that the fate of Fashion Police rested in Kelly Osbourne‘s hands. Following her threat to leave the show over Guiliana Rancic‘s racist comments to Zendaya Coleman, where Rancic said the Disney star’s dreadlocks at this year’s Oscars made her look as if she smelled of patchouli oil and marijuana, Osbourne has apparently made good on that promise. Last week, Kelly Osbourne tweeted out to her fans that she did not “condone racism” and that she was rethinking her position on the popular fashion commentary show. The E! network released a statement regarding Kelly‘s departure from Fashion Police.

Kelly Osbourne is departing E!s Fashion Police to pursue other opportunities, and we would like to thank her for her many contributions to the series over the past five years, during which time the show became a hit with viewers. Fashion Police will return, as scheduled, on Monday, March 30, at 9 p.m. and no decisions have been made on her replacement.”

The fashion show must go on, and Fashion Police must hire a new panelist. Us Weekly reports that either NeNe Leakes or Khloe Kardashian will replace Kelly as panelist, as both names are in the running. That rumor isn’t too far off, considering the Kardashians have the E! network on lock with their own show and multiple spin-offs. “[Khloe] was supposed to do it last time and passed,” reports Us Weekly. “She may consider doing it again, but the offer would have to be really high. It’s a lot of extra work for her.” Khloe Kardashian was also a guest fashion correspondent for E!‘s red carpet coverage for the Oscars this year, so anything is possible. Melissa Rivers also offered her thoughts on Kelly Osbourne‘s departure below.

Many fans feel that since the passing of Fashion Police host Joan Rivers, that the show is tanking, especially with comedian Kathy Griffin taking Joan‘s place as the new brash and outspoken commentator. Executive producer and daughter of the late hostess, Melissa Rivers, also issued a statement about her feelings on Kelly leaving the show.

Kelly Osbourne is a friend and has been a wonderful part of the Fashion Police family. I will miss her terribly and wish her the very best in all of her future endeavors. As my mother always said, the show must go on and I plan to continue in the same spirit.”
