Kanye West pulled a “Kanye” at last night’s Grammy Awards ceremony when alternative rock musician Beck unexpectedly took home the award for “Best Album of the Year”. Kanye resurrected his most infamous award show stunt by seemingly infiltrating the stage in defense of Beyonce‘s music, which he feels is worthy of 3 the “Big Four” Grammy awards (Best Album, Record of the Year, & Song of the Year).

Beck‘s Morning Phase album beat out both the night’s top winner, Sam Smith, and the category’s expected winner, Beyonce. Kanye did look like he was about to storm the Grammy stage, but he smiled and promptly returned to his seat, successfully trolling the entire ceremony. However, after the show, Kanye wasn’t laughing anymore. Speaking to E! News at their Grammy aftershow, Kanye gave some back-story on why he really went on stage, standing next to a very nervous-looking Kim.

“I just know that the Grammys, if they want real artists to keep coming back, they need to stop playing with us. We ain’t gonna play with them no more. And Beck needs to respect artistry and he should’ve given his award to Beyonce. Because when you keep on diminishing art and not respecting the craft and smacking people in their face after they deliver monumental feats of music, you’re disrespectful to inspiration. And we as musicians have to inspire people who go to work every day, and they listen to that Beyonce album and they feel like it takes them to another place.”
