The people who achieve the status of greatness are able to reach the top and get comfortable for a while. Ironically, the reason for this is because they never get comfortable. Boxing and cultural icon, Muhammad Ali, fits this category quite nicely and artist Ivben Taqiy is following suit.

“Champions aren’t made in gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them-a desire, a dream, a vision. They have to have the skill, and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill.”  ~Muhammad Ali

On April 26th, many art lovers in the Philly community came to witness Ivben Taqiy “Muhammad Ali Art Show”, hosted by Revolt Tv’s “DJ Damage the Future Legend”. For those who are familiar with Taqiy’s talents know that in the realm of art he is a champion himself. His previous shows have all been amazing displays of art, music, and culture, treating each guest to a unique and memorable experience.  Taqiy presented about 15 new paintings, interactive pieces, and a real life Muhammad Ali Impersonator. He mentioned to me at the show that he wants attendees to be engulfed in the show and it’s meaning. He wants those who attend to really be surprised.

I personally loved the idea of Taqiy giving other artists of different genres an opportunity to vend their services. I’m talking jewelry makers, barbers, and food caterers. I ran into Michael “Mile High”, rap artist who was vending his dope clothing line “Mile High”. I had the pleasure of meeting Jade Alston for the first time who said & I quote “Cherrell you really made my night! Thank you.”

We look forward to Taqiy’s “Woman In the Water” art show this Fall. This show will capture both woman and water as his subjects, while stemming away from celebrity art shows.  Feel free to check out some video footage and photos of Ivben Taqiy’s Art Show below!
